Supporting teachers is the best way to achieve good schools!
Classroom Grants
This year the Foundation awarded over $166,000 in Classroom Grants
to Teachers-in every subject, in every grade, at every school.
Grants to individual teachers are typically in the range of $500. Larger
amounts may be awarded for team projects affecting more than one classroom.
The Grants Committee of the Foundation's Board carefully reviews each
application, and the full Board of Directors makes the final decision.

Berkeley School Volunteers
At the request of teachers, Berkeley School Volunteers recruits about 50,000 volunteer hours each year. Volunteers, who are trained and carefully matched before being assigned, are recruited from local businesses, the University of California at Berkeley, civic organizations, and religious institutions. (Berkeley School Volunteers does not typically coordinate parent volunteers at particular schools.)
Volunteers help teachers in the classroom, with school gardens and clean-up
days, after school, and with special projects such as the middle school
"Lit Pals" letter exchange. Email Berkeley
School Volunteers to learn more about receiving volunteer support.
