Classroom Grant Awards

Kid making solar carA longstanding commitment to small elementary schools and low student/teacher ratios and a diverse and involved population are among the factors that have enabled Berkeley to attract some of California’s best teachers. Over the years, hundreds of these talented teachers have dreamed of the great things they could do with just a few extra resources and they turn to the Berkeley Public Education Foundation. Classroom Grants are awarded in direct response to requests from teachers and principals. In 2009-10, Two  hundred seventy five applications were received, and 236 grants awarded for a total of $161,029; the smallest was $100 and the largest was $4,700. Whatever the size, each one helped teachers aim for – and achieve – excellence.
