BPEF 2012 Summer Fellowship for BUSD Teachers

Inspired by the accomplishments of Berkeley High graduate and award-winning Bay Area journalist Belva Davis, and with the support of the Herb Singer Fund, BPEF is offering a summer fellowship to encourage BUSD teachers to aspire to the highest levels of professionalism and creativity in their field.  The summer fellowship grant will support one or more teachers to undertake a significant summer learning project of their choosing, one which will add greater depth, understanding, and breadth of perspective to their teaching practice.  BPEF seeks applicants willing to be challenged, to broaden their personal and professional experiences, and to pursue professional development opportunities beyond those that normal budgets and time may allow.  A further goal of the award will be for the recipient(s) to share what is learned and/or experienced with colleagues at a school site(s) or across the District during the following school year.

To learn more about the Fellowship, criteria for participants, and the process for applying,
click here to download a 4-page Information and Application Instructions document.

After reading the Information and Application Instructions, if you wish to apply, please
register yourself online here

You then will be emailed the Fellowship application form to complete.

Deadline for the completed form is no later than 5:00 pm on February 29, 2012.    You can scan and email additional informational attachments, or deliver hard copy of attachments to BPEF's office in person or via mail/District mail.

As a new program in 2012, and one BPEF hopes to be able to continue funding in future years, few restrictions are being put on the range of acceptable proposals.   BPEF’s criteria may broaden or narrow as applications are evaluated, but we encourage teacher applicants to think about this with enthusiasm and creativity in this inaugural year.  Feel free to contact us at 610-644-6244, or mollyfraker@berkeley.net, for more information.
