Classroom Grants to Teachers
A longstanding commitment to small elementary schools and low student/teacher
ratios and a diverse and involved population are among the factors that
have enabled Berkeley to attract some of California's best teachers. Over
the years, hundreds of these talented teachers have dreamed of the great
things they could do with just a few extra resources and they turn to
the Berkeley Public Education Foundation. Classroom Grants are awarded
in direct response to requests from teachers and principals. This year
the Foundation awarded $137,523 in Classroom Grants: the smallest was
$75, and the largest $4,000. Whatever the size, each one helped teachers
aim for - and achieve - excellence.
